In 2009 I was having a difficult time finding well made attractive furniture that was affordable. Since I was twelve, I had always had a workshop in some form or fashion so I decided to design and build a few pieces of furniture for our home. A few people took notice of the work I was doing and I started accepting custom orders. A few years later the little furniture company that I called PhilipDesignLab was getting busy and Nicholas Evans joined me and we decided to call this partnership TimberSmith.
